Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to all visitors and users of our site. Our site may contain links to, or be linked from, other websites. This policy does not apply to those sites, but only to our own. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of sites linked to our site.
Shurgard protects your privacy and is committed to protecting it.
You can browse our site without telling us who you are or revealing any personal information about yourself. However, some of our web pages may use cookies but the individual user always remains anonymous unless the user chooses to register.
Cookies are small data files deposited on your computer’s hard drive. A cookie will typically contain the name of the domain from which the cookie has come, the "lifetime" of the cookie, and a value, usually a randomly generated unique number. They are used by Shurgard in the following ways:
- to help us recognize you as a unique visitor when you return to our website and to allow us to tailor content or advertisements to match your preferred interests or to avoid showing you the same adverts repeatedly (enhancing your interactive experience and generally improving our service to you),
- to compile anonymous, aggregated statistics that allow us to understand how users use our site and to help us improve the structure of our website. We can never identify you personally in this way.
Two types of cookies may be used on this website – session cookies which are temporary cookies that remain in the cookie file of your browser until you leave the site and persistent cookies which remain in the cookie file of your browser for much longer (though how long will depend on the lifetime of the specific cookie). We may use a third party to serve advertisements on our site. Cookies may be associated with these advertisements to enable the advertiser to track the number of anonymous users responding to the campaign. We do not have access to or control of cookies placed by third parties.
Your internet browser can be set to notify you when you are sent a cookie, giving you the chance to decide whether or not to accept it, or to refuse cookies altogether. However, you may not be able to use all the interactive features of our site if cookies are disabled.
We encourage you to register your details with us.
If you do so or if you participate in business transactions with Shurgard, the individual user information that you provide us with will be incorporated into files belonging to Shurgard Sweden AB, Box 36, S – 171 11 Solna.
The individual user information will be stored in a secure environment, using industry-standard and appropriate security methods and procedures. You have the right to inspect your personal information incorporated in our files and, if necessary, ask for the correction of the information.
The individual user information will be used for customer administration, market studies and (personalized) information and/or promotional campaigns concerning our products and/or services. In addition hereto, your personal information will be transferred to other companies in the Shurgard group of companies. Your personal data may also, under certain circumstances, be transferred to Shurgards creditors. You will however receive specific information if such a transfer of your personal data to any of Shurgards creditors were to take place.
No (personalized) information and/or promotional campaigns will be directed at you by postal mail if you have explicitly chosen not to be submitted to them.
(Personalized) information and/or promotional campaigns will only be directed at you by fax, e-mail and SMS/MMS messages if you have explicitly chosen to be submitted to them.
Furthermore we reserve the right to disclose any individual user information necessary to enforce or preserve our rights or pursuant to any lawful order.
By registering on Shurgards website or otherwise entering into business transactions as a customer of Shurgard, you confirm your approval of Shurgards processing of your personal data as described above and hereby consent to such processing as required by the Personal Data Protection Act (1998:204).
